My name is Steffi and I am new here, a friend told me about this website. I have breast cancer, I have had my operations and just had a port put in and will start chemotherapy probably next week. Exercise always has been really important to me, I am running a lot and run half marathons and I go swimming in the ponds in Hampstead Heath all year round, I also do a bit of yoga. When I first got diagnosed in the meeting with the nurse before the operation she basically said I wouldn't be able to do any of that for a long time, and recommended walking, which was very frustrating, I have ignored her and have been running and cycling since the op and it was fine and also have been back to the pond, and I just want to know whether it will be ok during the times that I feel well enough during chemo to do so. I read somewhere that swimming isn't recommended, but I tend to not duck my head under. Also, I was wondering if at times it would be ok to go to a yoga class and the sauna. And if there is any runners on here around Crouch End/Highgate who fancy meeting for a run, that would be great too! xxxSteffi
